Florentine Towers at Sunset

This is one of those shots that doesn't look like anything special, but one that I am extremely pleased with. It's easy to take a nice shot of Il Duomo in Florence or of the Pantheon in Rome because those are visually spectacular subjects. This, on the other hand, was a fairly normal-looking part of the Florence skyline that I thought might look good in silhouette against the colorful sunset sky. I am very pleased that it worked so well, especially considering I only had Sensia 400 film in the camera at the time, which is not a particularly good film for saturated color.

The main tower here is visible in this photo of the Ponte Santa Trinita. That photo was shot on a different day and after sundown, but it is interesting to see that the tower is spotlit. I must have taken this shot a few minutes before they turned on the lights, as the sun was not yet down. I am not certain about the identification of the other towers, but one may be the top of the church of Santo Spirito.
