Hawaiian Goose Another captive bird from the National Zoo in Washington, DC. The Nene is a protected species of Goose native to Hawaii. They are supposed to be fairly common out there, but I never saw one during my visit to Hawaii. There are a few right here in Washington, though, and they're probably a heck of a lot easier to photograph here than they are in Hawaii.
