Redhead This is a male Redhead at the duck pond in the National Zoo. I believe this is a captive bird, but it is difficult to tell with the ducks because wild ducks mingle with them all the time. Most of the captive birds have their wings clipped to keep them in the enclosure, so when one takes off, you know it did not belong to the zoo. This one is a bit more exotic than the usual ducks you find along the East Coast (though it can be found here), and it never left, so I'm guessing it was captive.
