Inca Tern

Another Inca Tern from the National Zoo in Washington, DC. This is a captive bird. This was a tough shot to take with the backlight and no flash. I shot several, knowing most would be tossed in the garbage because the bird had to remain very still and I had to avoid camera shake from the mirror slapping up at a 1/15" shutter speed. Actually, I probably used mirror lock-up here to avoid camera shake.

It's hard to tell at this size, but if you look closely at the eye on the original slide, you can see my reflection.
