Waipio Valley, Hawaii

Waipio Valley is a terrific place to visit in Hawaii, filled with lush vegetation and beautiful waterfalls. It's the type of place people envision when they imagine what Hawaii must look like. I wish I had been able to spend more time there -- I only visited for an afternoon. It's also one of the two places that rental car agencies do not allow you to drive into, because it requires a 4WD and some nerves to drive down the steep, windy and narrow road that is the only way in and out (the other road that is not allowed is Saddle Road, the paving of which used to be spotty, but it's a lot better now). Of course, I had to drive down there, since we had rented a 4WD anyway. This shot is from the overlook just above the valley, just before I breached my truck rental contract.
