Rain Forest, Hawaii

I have never been so eaten by mosquitoes as I was when I shot this photo with my father in law. I had to stand with the remote release as far to the side as possible when shooting this, to keep the cloud of mosquitoes on me and away from the front of the lens. The Big Island of Hawaii is fascinating for its diversity of climates. One side is rain forest, the other arid. In the mountains, it may be snowing, while an hour away on the beach it is blazing hot, and on the other side of the island it is pouring rain. Here, just north of Hilo along the Four Mile Scenic Drive, it is very damp and green.
While this shot is not a favorite of most of my friends, I like it.
