Snow Geese Flock, Chincoteague NWR Some of the thousands of Snow Geese that arrive at Chincoteague NWR in Virginia every year. They literally take over the Refuge every year during their migratory flight from approximately November through February. It is an incredible sight and sound, as you can imagine. This shot shows approximately one-third to one-half the flock that was there that morning. If I remember correctly, there is a slight digital alteration to this shot -- I removed a distant car on the road to the far left. I doubt it would be visible at this size anyway, but I optimize my photos for printing before shrinking them down for the web, and in the print, the car would have been noticeable.
