Snow Geese in Flight

This shot has a huge technical flaw, namely that the second bird is partially obscured by the primary bird. It is the type of shot that I normally toss in the garbage. But for some reason, I liked this anyway and spared it from the trash. I think I like it because the poses are so dynamic and the rusty background colors so rich. So here it is on these pages despite the glaring compositional flaw. Note that one of the birds is a juvenile and the other an adult. The one in the front is the adult. Adults have much whiter plumage.

This is from the same day as least six other Snow Geese flight shots at Chincoteague NWR on these pages [1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6], when I caught these guys landing against the strong, cold wind.
