Carving in Obelisk, Piazza Colonna

Roman figures carved into an ancient Egyptian obelisk dating from the sixth century B.C. Augustus Caesar had this obelisk moved from Egypt to Rome following his victory in Egypt over Antony and Cleopatra. These figures were carved into the side sometime after its arrival in Rome.
