White-crowned Sparrow

Here's a Sparrow that's a bit easier to identify than most because of the distinctive head markings. This is the nuttalli, or coastal variety of the White-crowned Sparrow species. Shot during a hike through Point Lobos State Reserve. This is a crop from a horizontal composition.
