Il Campo at Night

A view of Il Campo after sunset. The light trails are from a sanitation van that drove by during the long exposure. You can just make out the lines in the brick that fan out from the building through the Piazza Pubblico. You can see the lines more clearly in this shot of Il Campo.

An interesting thing about this shot and a couple of the other shots of Piazza Pubblico on these pages is that some of the buildings in the background are being renovated and have scaffolding on them. You can't see it, however, because huge canvas sheets hang in front of the scaffolding, with prints of a medieval facade on the canvas. The buildings in the left-center of the background with the white squares along the roofline (the ones that have several lit windows) are actually entirely blocked by scaffolding. Thanks to the ingenious use of these huge canvas prints, they blend in seamlessly with the other buildings.
