Whitetail Buck

Another shot from a sunny morning at Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park.

Can you tell I used flash for this shot? The sparkly dew all over the face and ears of this buck is a side-effect of using flash to fill in the shadows. Also, notice the two catchlights in his right eye.
One is from the sun and sky, the other is from the flash.

Without flash, this shot would have been completely unusable, because the light on the head and the light on the neck were completely different. Even with the flash, I am not sure I like it that much. I particularly dislike that his left antler is clipped by the top of the frame. I will probably replace this shot with another once I get a better portrait of a Whitetail Buck, but for now, this will have to do. I liked the clean background and the golden, early morning light, so I decided to keep this one.
