Savannah Sparrow

Sparrows are notoriously difficult to identify, especially for a new birder. I had some help on this ID, and have determined it to be a Savannah Sparrow, a common and variable species. In particular, this is the dark, streaked P.s. beldingi variety, which inhabits southern California coastal marshes.

This was shot at the Bolsa Chica Preserve in Southern California.
